What to Expect
TAK Photography offers custom portraiture! We will discuss colours, props, location and your wishes for the session prior to booking and the more input you have the more special the end result will be. Each session is done either in the comfort of our on location. Your session will be relaxed and stress-free. I want everyone to have fun! My aim is to provide you with natural and a relaxed style photos that reflect the bond between your family.
After your session we guide you through viewing the images taken during your and you select the best images for us to edit.
When is the best time to book your session?
The best time to photograph your beautiful baby bump is between 32 and 36 weeks of your pregnancy. That way you will be showing off a sizeable bump, but not leaving it to close to your due date.
It is best to book your newborn session while you are still expecting usually during the 2nd trimester. We book for your due date then once your precious bundle has arrived we confirm a time within the first 14days. Newborns are best photographed between 4-14 days old. That is, to get those lovely sleepy, curly shots.
Sitter sessions can be booked several times throughout the first year. Our suggested times are 4-5 months when baby is enjoying tummy time and exploring on their backs, 6-8 months when baby is sitting and starting to crawl, then 9-12 months when baby is wanting to stand/walk.
As baby nears 12 months a lovely way to remember this time is with a birthday Cake Smash, where we will capture 12 month portraits as well as messy cake shots. Cake smash sessions can occur from 10-12 months depending if you wish to use photos as decorations for their party or as invitations.
What to wear
Once you've booked your newborn session you will be sent information detailing how to best prepare for your shoot.
When booking a maternity session, you will have access to a full range of maternity gowns, drapes, and fabrics to choose from, or if you prefer, you are welcome to bring your own clothing.
For a family session I recommend that you wear something comfortable, yet stylish. Pastel colours or creamy tones are fantastic. For family portraits try not to dress everyone in the same colour but rather in a complimenting colour scheme. Stay away from logos and busy patterns, but a pop of colour can add visual interest to your photo. Think about where you will be placing your photos and what colours would look best in that room. We are always happy to give wardrobe suggestions if needed.
